FAQs
Does athletics run through the year?

Little Athletics has both a summer and winter season. The summer season runs from September to March and focusses on track and field events, while the winter season is cross country & walk competitions and runs from April to July

Can I help out at athletics?

Little Athletics encourages volunteers to help out during home meets and state meets. The committee is more than happy to teach volunteers how each event is set up and how they can assist on the day

How old does my child need to be to be involved in Athletics?

We cater for children of all ages, from 3 to 17 years.

Are there any awards at the end of the season?

Yes, we offer a range of awards at our AGM. Please refer to our Awards Policy for full details on the awards available. Awards are based on points accumulated throughout the season, with points awarded for each event attempted, personal bests achieved during the season, and any club or state records broken.

Do you celebrate milestones of our athletes throughout the season?

We love celebrating our athletes milestones throughout the season. Athletes receive awards when they achieve 20, 30 and 40 personal bests (PBs)

Can we use the schools sports voucher to cover registration fees?

Every school-aged child is entitled to 2X $100 Sports Vouchers, which can be used towards their registration fees.

Is there a club uniform?

Yes. Our club uniform includes a club shirt with your age group patch and unique registration number, along with black shorts or long black pants. Your age group patch and registration number are included in your registration fee. Club shirts are available to purchase from the canteen during training sessions and home meets.

What shoes does my child need to wear?

We recommend starting with a comfortable pair of running shoes and allowing your athlete to develop their skills before investing in specialised footwear. Spikes may be worn by athletes in the U11 age group and above, but we encourage you to speak with one of our coaches before purchasing a pair. We also have a shoe exchange at the canteen, offering a range of quality second-hand shoes.
